Triund Trek in Dharamshala

Triund Trek is a famous trekking destination near Dharamshala (McLeod Ganj) in Himachal Pradesh. This trek is known for its amazing views of the Dhauladhar mountains range and the Kangra Valley. This trek is suitable for beginner trekkers, as it offers an easy to moderate challenge, and the views are spectacular once you reach the top.

Khaniyara, Chamunda, Palampur are visible to the east and the huge Dhauladhar mountain stands to the north. Dharamshala, Kangra, Shahpur, Beas river and Pong dam are visible to the south and Guna Mata and Ghera hills are visible to the west. It is located at a height of 2828 meters above sea level, due to which beautiful views of Kangra valley can be seen here. Triund is about 19 to 20 kilometers away from Dharamshala. Triund is known as a beautiful trek of Himachal Pradesh and a favorite track of tourists.

Start of the trek:
McLeod Ganj (2,082 m) is the most common starting point of the Triund trek. The trek starts from a village called Bhagsu Nag, which is located near McLeod Ganj. From here, there is a well-marked path that leads through dense forests, such as oak and rhododendron trees.

Distance:
The total distance of the trek is 7-9 km (4.5-5.5 mi), depending on the route. It can usually be covered in 4-6 hours.

Elevation:
The Triund peak is located at an altitude of 2,828 m (9,278 ft).

Best time to visit:
The best time to visit the Triund trek is March to June (for pleasant weather) and September to December (for clear skies and freshness). Avoid travelling during monsoon (July and August), as the ground can be slippery and prone to landslides.

Difficulty level:
This trek is of moderate level. It is suitable for those who are beginners and want to enjoy a day adventure trip.
